Did you know the real reason why Red, Yellow and Green has been chosen for traffic lights?
We all know that Red means stop, green means go, and yellow means proceed with caution. However, there is a reason why these colors were chosen. Red is the color with the longest wavelength from all colors which means it can be seen from a bigger distance, allowing drivers to see it from far away. Yellow, on the other hand has a shorter wavelength than red but longer than green that is why is used as a sign for drivers to proceed with caution. These wavelengths make it clearer when the lights change from green to yellow or from yellow to red.
